We are looking for a third founder.
An RF or spaceborne communications systems engineer, to own the link budget and the space segment.
Murat covers hardware, data and the commercial side. Elena covers product and operations. Neither of us is the right person to own the radio link, and we would rather state that plainly than pretend otherwise.
What you would own
- The link budget, end to end, and the tradeoffs that fall out of it.
- The space segment: payload definition, the constellation as a system, and the path from bench demonstration to something that works from orbit.
- A real say in the regulatory strategy, because on this timeline spectrum and licensing are engineering constraints rather than paperwork.
Where the company actually is
Three years of work, most of it on the physics and the regulatory path. The link architecture and spectrum strategy, the device concept and its power budget, the constellation geometry and the adversarial threat model are settled. A patent filing is in progress.
No flight hardware yet. The next milestone is a bench demonstration of the device-to-receiver link, and that is the thing we want a third founder for rather than after.
This is a founder role with founder equity. There is no salary until we raise, and we will not pretend otherwise to make the conversation easier.
Who this suits
Someone who has closed a link budget that mattered and can say what they gave up to close it. Someone comfortable with the fact that the interesting constraint here is cost and power rather than throughput, and who reads that as the fun part rather than the boring part.
We are based in Toronto, with a view to the Bay Area.
If this is you
Tell us what you have built and what you would want to own. We are glad to go through the architecture properly under NDA — the parts we keep off the public pages are exactly the parts worth talking about.
